The Peyo Company Engages Design Force to Create Johan & Peewit Logo

The Peyo Company, the global licensor of the Smurfs, recently engaged Design Force, Inc. to create the logo for The Tales of Johan & Peewit, a new animated TV series adaptation of the Johan & Peewit adventure comics developed by Pierre Culliford (a.k.a. Peyo), the creator of the Smurfs. The series will feature a mix of 2D and 3D animation, updating Peyo’s signature blend of humor, fantasy and adventure for a tween audience.

As a tribute to Peyo, Véronique Culliford, Peyo’s daughter, renamed and rebranded IMPS, the company she founded in 1984 to promote and perpetuate her father’s work and legacy, as The Peyo Company. The new entity will regroup all of Peyo’s universes under a single brand umbrella.

“It’s been an honor to be able to build such a success out of the blue characters my father created,” Culliford said.

“And now I hope we will do the same for some of his other creations, ‘Johan & Peewit’ and ‘Benny Breakiron’. To underline our engagement to expand his legacy beyond the Smurfs, we are renaming IMPS as The Peyo Company.”

“It’s a well-deserved tribute to my father, and features his signature, with which he signed thousands of drawings, as our new logo. Peyo was a storyteller, and so is Peyo Company. The renamed company will tell new stories inspired by Peyo’s creations with a touch of modernity that will resonate with new generations.”
