Design Force, Inc., proudly announces that The Toy Book has published its president, Ted Mininni’s thought-provoking, new article as a feature in the publication’s June 2020 issue. The piece, titled: Envisioning a World Without Plastics considers how the retail landscape might look as the industry’s global brand leaders move towards reducing and eliminating single use plastics in their packaging.
The article appears on page 88.
As the article begins, Mr. Mininni explains Hasbro’s initiative to begin phasing out plastics from new toy and game packaging across its portfolio of brands, with the goal of eliminating virtually all plastic components including polybags, elastic bands, shrink wrap, window sheets, and blister packs from packaging for new products by the end of 2022.
Mr. Mininni then addresses the various ways in which packaging structure may change once plastic is reduced, and ultimately eliminated, and how these changes will affect the consumer shopping experience in the toy aisles of the mass retail environment.
The article culminates with examples of other global brand leaders in the toy industry who have followed in Hasbro’s footsteps and plan on reducing and eliminating plastic in both their packaging and in various product components.
