Packaging Program Refresh for a Preschool Entertainment Licensing Brand
Moonbug Entertainment engaged our design team to refresh the licensed product packaging program for Blippi, the popular preschool entertainment brand and YouTube sensation.
The objective was to create a visually cohesive package design system that could extend seamlessly across a broad range of licensed consumer products and packaging formats. The program needed to establish a strong shelf presence, reinforce the Blippi brand identity, and provide licensees with a flexible framework that could be implemented consistently across global retail channels.
Character-Inspired Package Design Architecture and Visual System
Our design solution draws directly from Blippi’s iconic attire, incorporating visual elements inspired by his signature shirt, bow tie, and suspenders. These recognizable brand assets form the foundation of the package design architecture, creating an immediate connection to the character while establishing a unique and ownable visual identity for the licensing program.
An arced graphic element anchors the bottom of the packaging and houses the product name and descriptor text across all formats. Character artwork from the refreshed licensing program style guide serves as a character endorser, appearing prominently on both front and side panels.
Window box packaging incorporates a pattern of core Blippi icons that reinforces the brand’s “Ignite Curiosity” messaging, while blister card, tray box, and hang tag formats feature a custom die-cut around the bow tie to further emphasize one of the property’s most recognizable visual cues.
Together, these elements create a packaging system that is playful, distinctive, and instantly recognizable while maintaining the flexibility required to support a wide range of licensed product categories.
Packaging Guidelines and Retail Display Program Development
To support global implementation, our team developed a comprehensive packaging guidelines document that standardizes the application of the refreshed packaging program across all licensee partners. The guide introduces the complete library of modular Package Design Assets, provides step-by-step assembly instructions, along with templates for the blister card, window box, closed box, tray box, and hang tag packaging formats.
We also developed a coordinated retail display program that included a free-standing display, in-aisle display, and sidekick display. Together, these retail components helped create a cohesive brand experience at shelf while increasing visibility and impact throughout the retail environment.
