Blaze and the Monster Machines Style Guide
Nickelodeon engaged our design team to develop the Blaze and the Monster Machines Spring/Summer 2017 seasonal style guide. This licensing program, entitled Blazing Sounds!, employs a dynamic comic book-inspired visual aesthetic, leveraging halftone dots, zipatone character art, saturated colors and bold graphics, with a focus on the sounds associated with the animated series.
We created a robust variety of design elements, including racing action-themed compositions, character-specific badge designs, and multi-directional patterns as well as icons, frames and backgrounds. Racing and engine sounds are conveyed through the fun onomatopoeia found in comic books, while recognizable editorial ensures that each design stays true to the core attributes of the Blaze and the Monster Machines property.
Our design for the style guide immerses licensees into the comic book environment with a page template design inspired by the interlocking image panels and onomatopoeia found in comic books. And section navigation leverages a font typically used for comic book text.
