Scary Stories to
Tell in the Dark
Character Artwork

ViacomCBS worked with us to create a series of illustrations of the creatures from the André Øvredal and Guillermo del Toro film, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, which hit theaters on August 9, 2019.

The character artwork was developed by our company president and creative director, Ted Mininni, in a vector style using photography of the creatures as reference. The artwork maintained a limited color palette in various values earth tone values and black. An aggressive paint stroke and spatter was used as a background for each piece.

The character art depicts Big Toe Corpse, Harold, Pale Lady, Jangly Man and Sarah Bellows which were featured as a key part of the film’s consumer product licensing program.
